Instructions

  1. Cream Ingredients

Mix the cold butter, brown sugar, white sugar, and eggs. Cream them together until well combined.
  2. Combine Dry and Wet

Add the vanilla, baking soda, salt, cornstarch, and glucose or light corn syrup. Mix in the all-purpose flour only until blended, being careful not to overmix.
  3. Prepare Dough

Measure out at least 1/4 cup of cookie batter for each cookie. You may form the dough into balls and freeze them for later use, thawing before baking.
  4. Test Bake

Bake one cookie first to check the spread. If it spreads too much, chill the remaining dough for 30 minutes. Use double baking pans to prevent burnt bottoms.
  5. Bake Cookies

Bake at 400°F for 13 to 18 minutes, depending on your oven and cookie size.
  6. Cool Completely

Leave the cookies on the baking sheet for 5 to 10 minutes after removing from the oven. Then transfer them to cooling racks to finish setting.

Tips

Do not overmix the flour into the batter, or the cookies will turn out hard and tough. Ensure you use enough dough per cookie to achieve the thick, soft texture.

About this recipe

This recipe yields cookies that are thick, soft, and deliciously baked. The dough is versatile, allowing you to add chocolate chips, nuts, sprinkles, or raisins. You can serve them warm or store them at room temperature in a covered container.

The method relies on creaming butter, sugar, and eggs before gently blending in the flour to avoid toughness. Baking at a high temperature for a short time ensures the perfect texture. These make wonderful gifts for holidays or casual sharing.
