Instructions

  1. In a stand‑mixer's bowl, combine the warm milk, instant dry yeast, sugar, salt, softened butter, and eggs.
  2. Add 5½ cups of flour and mix on low speed until incorporated, then increase to medium speed and gradually add the remaining ½ cup flour until the dough pulls away from the bowl sides and feels slightly sticky.
  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 90 minutes.
  4. Punch down the risen dough, shape it into 24 equal rolls, and place them on a lightly greased baking sheet in six rows of four. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375 °F. Bake the rolls for 12 to 14 minutes, until lightly browned.
  6. Remove from the oven and brush the tops with melted butter. Serve warm, or let cool on the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Store cooled rolls in a plastic bag.

About this recipe

These dinner rolls are light, fluffy, and practically melt in your mouth. Made with warm milk, butter, and a hint of sugar, they develop a tender crumb and a lightly golden crust. The recipe yields 24 uniformly sized rolls, perfect for any meal or gathering.

Serve the rolls warm, brushed with melted butter, straight from the oven or after a brief rest. They pair well with soups, stews, or simply enjoyed with butter on the side. Store any leftovers in a plastic bag to keep them soft for days.
