Instructions

12 steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Using an electric or stand mixer, beat the butter and cream cheese together until creamy.
  3. Add the sugar and continue mixing until fully incorporated.
  4. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl whisk the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until the dough comes together.
  7. Turn the dough onto a well‑floured surface. Divide it, shape each portion into a ball, and add more flour if sticky.
  8. Roll each ball to just under ½ inch thick, cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters, and place on the prepared sheets.
  9. Bake for 8–10 minutes, then let the cookies cool completely on the sheets.
  10. Frosting

While the cookies cool, beat the softened salted butter, cream cheese, and vanilla together until smooth.
  11. On low speed, gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until fully combined. Stir in the cornstarch.
  12. Once cookies are completely cooled, spread or pipe the frosting over each one and add sprinkles if using.

About this recipe

The cookies have a melt‑in‑your‑mouth texture, thanks to the combination of butter and cream cheese in the dough. Their flavor is sweet with a hint of vanilla, making them perfect for holidays, parties, or an everyday treat.

Once the cookies are completely cooled, spread or pipe the thick, slightly firm frosting over each piece. The frosting adds extra richness and a smooth finish, while sprinkles provide a festive touch if desired.
